Girls' Primary School in Bahawalpur
A charitable investment for your Akhirah.
Our school has four to six classrooms for 150 to 250 girls, with a stipend budget to recruit women teachers, near Yazman in Punjab, Pakistan.
Why Bahawalpur
Of the 33 teachers recorded in Bahawalpur's mobile schools in 2021 planning data, just one was a woman. That's why the stipend for women teachers matters. It shares the Cholistan search corridor with our Bahawalpur masjid.
Our research sets out who the girls' primary school will serve, why it's needed in Bahawalpur, and how the classrooms fits into village life. Read the research

The research behind this project
In Cholistan's mobile schools, 2021 records counted 33 teachers, and only one was a woman. This girls' school is planned with that in mind, including help to recruit women teachers.
Who's teaching
The figure comes from the Urban Unit's Cholistan master plan, which draws on 2021 service data for the Bahawalpur mobile schools. It's why the plan includes a stipend to help recruit women teachers.
The school
Four to six classrooms for 150 to 250 girls, a stipend to help recruit women teachers, and enrolment reports every term for the first two years.
The plan covers teaching, running costs and who's responsible for the school after handover. Handing it to the district education office would need that office's express agreement.
Getting girls to school
The site visit includes families and the school's operator, looking at how girls will get there, who'll teach and what it costs to run.
Before building, our partner confirms the plot and catchment, counts the girls of school age and agrees who takes over at handover.
Where
We're looking at Chak 101/DB, Chak 51/DB Janubi, Adda Kudwala and Chak 58/DB Shimali along the Desert Branch canal. The visit confirms the school's location and what schooling local girls can reach now.

Questions
What is a share?
This project is split into 100 shares of £750. Each one pays for a hundredth of the build, alongside everyone else who joins. You can fund one share or as many as you like.
How will I hear about it?
We'll email you at each stage, from the first site visit to the day it opens, with photos along the way.
What if the cost changes?
We work hard to price every project accurately. The price of a share covers its part of the build, its delivery and reporting, and our own costs. If it's going to cost more, we'll tell you up front and talk it through with you. If something unplanned comes up during the build, we'll talk it through with you and agree how to handle it together.
