About Us

Serving the Ummah with integrity, transparency, and lasting impact

Giving with intention. Delivered with care.

SDQA is a Muslim-led Community Interest Company created to support long-term, meaningful work across the Ummah. We exist to help Muslims give with clarity and confidence, and to help trusted charities deliver projects that continue serving communities long after the initial donation is made.

Through long-standing delivery partners, projects supported through SDQA have contributed to the building of schools, orphanages, mosques, hospitals, community centres, and water systems across more than 50 countries. These projects are delivered by experienced teams who understand local needs, cultural context, and the responsibility that comes with amanah.

Our structure allows us to work openly with multiple charities, support good work already happening on the ground, and focus on sustainability, reporting, and long-term outcomes, while remaining firmly rooted in Qur'an and Sunnah.

"The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a grain that grows seven ears; in each ear is a hundred grains."

(Qur'an 2:261)

Our Mission

To support charities and communities through carefully selected, long-term projects, while giving Muslims a clear and responsible way to build lasting reward in the Akhirah.

Our Vision

A future where Muslims give with intention, understanding where their sadaqah goes, how it is used, and how it continues to benefit others over time.

Our Values

Faith-driven

Our decisions are guided by Qur'an and Sunnah, with sincerity and accountability.

Trustworthy

Every contribution is an amanah. We treat it with care, restraint, and responsibility.

Transparent

We are clear about how projects are chosen, funded, and reported.

Sustainable

We focus on work that strengthens families and communities over the long term.

Strategic

We prioritise areas that build resilience and dignity within the Ummah.

"The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity."

(Tirmidhi)

The SDQA Difference

SDQA works alongside established charities to support projects that are designed to last.

Charities carry out vital emergency response and day-to-day humanitarian work, often under immense pressure. Our role is to complement that effort by focusing time, structure, and scrutiny on projects intended to serve communities for years rather than moments.

Every SDQAvestment is selected from trusted partners with a proven delivery record. We focus on:

Long-term benefit

Projects that continue serving people year after year.

Community strength

Work that supports dignity, stability, and local capability.

Accountability

Clear reporting that allows donors to understand what was delivered.

Fit with our focus areas

Projects that fit within agreed priorities and practical delivery capacity.

This approach allows charities to focus on delivery, while SDQA focuses on selection, structure, and transparency. It is a partnership built on trust and shared responsibility.

How We Choose Projects

01

Careful selection

Partners submit proposals that are reviewed for need, sustainability, delivery capacity, and realistic outcomes.

02

Due diligence

Budgets, timelines, safeguarding processes, and maintenance plans are checked before funding.

03

Ongoing reporting

Supporters receive updates and completion reports so they can see how their sadaqah is being used.

Meet The Team

SDQA is run by Muslims who have spent years working in charity, community projects, and donor engagement. We care about getting this right for the people who give, and for the people who rely on the projects being funded.

Irfan Akram

Irfan Akram

Co-Founder

Chair

Twenty years inside UK Muslim charity fundraising. Co-founded an agency that helped major UK Muslim charities raise tens of millions. He has seen the appeal model from the inside - and how often the relationship between donor and impact stops at the payment page.

SDQA is his answer. A platform where your sadaqah is tracked, documented, and returned to you as evidence. Irfan focuses on direction, donor experience, and making sure every project on SDQA stands up to scrutiny.

Riaz Hussain

Riaz Hussain

Co-Founder

Strategy & Tech Lead

A decade building digital systems for Muslim charities. Riaz is the one who turns ideas into working infrastructure - applications, donor platforms, tracking systems. He started building the Akhirah Portfolio because he wanted to answer a simple question: where does our sadaqah actually go?

At SDQA, Riaz oversees the platform, the delivery workflow, and the reporting that closes the loop back to donors.

Saima Hussain

Saima Hussain

Finance Director

Governance & Compliance

Fifteen years delivering multi-million pound programmes across the corporate sector. Saima brings that discipline to SDQA as Finance Director, overseeing governance, compliance, and the financial architecture behind every project.

At SDQA, that means every delivery partner is audited before we commission them, and every pound is tracked from the donor's card to the family on the ground. The accountability donors see only works because of the discipline she keeps behind it.

Shaheb Khan

Shaheb Khan

Co-Founder

Marketing & Communications

Shaheb has spent years in community-facing charity work - campaigns, donor communications, events, and on-the-ground engagement.

At SDQA, Shaheb leads donor communications, impact storytelling, and the work of making sure every completed project is reported back to the people who funded it.
