Masjid in Bahawalpur, Cholistan

A charitable investment for your Akhirah.

A masjid on the edge of Cholistan, giving the village a shaded place to gather and pray. Washing space is part of the design too.

Why Bahawalpur

Near Yazman in Bahawalpur, Punjab, farmland meets the desert. The mosque we're proposing here has a prayer hall, washing space and a shaded veranda, on this edge of Pakistan's canal country. Deep shade and air moving through the building make it a place to gather in the heat.

Our research sets out who the masjid will serve, why it's needed in Bahawalpur, and how the shaded veranda fits into village life. Read the research

The research behind this project

Near Yazman, canal farmland meets the Cholistan desert. A masjid here needs shade, air and water for wudu, and the research explains why.

Water for wudu

Cholistan has long relied on rain ponds called tobas. Pakistan's Council of Research in Water Resources says they hold water for three or four months at most. So washing water gets real attention in this masjid's plan.

The building

A prayer hall with a shaded veranda and space to wash. Inside, prayer mats, fans, lights and a Qur'an shelf for the maktab. It's planned for at least 130 worshippers across about 300 square metres.

A separate water point would have its own cost. On the first site visit, our partner confirms the plot, the land agreement, where washing water will come from and who'll look after the building.

Along the Desert Branch canal

We're looking at Chak 101/DB, Chak 51/DB Janubi, Adda Kudwala and Chak 58/DB Shimali, near Yazman. The visit confirms what the congregation needs and how a new masjid sits alongside the prayer spaces already there.

Questions

What is a share?

This project is split into 100 shares of £115. Each one pays for a hundredth of the build, alongside everyone else who joins. You can fund one share or as many as you like.

How will I hear about it?

We'll email you at each stage, from the first site visit to the day it opens, with photos along the way.

What if the cost changes?

We work hard to price every project accurately. The price of a share covers its part of the build, its delivery and reporting, and our own costs. If it's going to cost more, we'll tell you up front and talk it through with you. If something unplanned comes up during the build, we'll talk it through with you and agree how to handle it together.
