By Irfan, co-founder of SDQA
I've spent years helping charities raise funds. Through SDQA, I want to get involved in delivering the projects those funds make possible, and I'm funding a project of my own.
There is a personal reason for that too. My son and my mother passed away within three years of each other. I want to honour them through something that helps other people, with the hope that Allah accepts it as Sadaqah Jariyah for them.
That is why this work matters to me.
Being part of getting it done
Helping charities raise money has been an important part of my work. Now I want to be involved as an idea becomes a project, through to the point where people can use it.
Have a look at the photographs from our completed water project in Pakistan. Children are gathered around the pump. One girl drinks from her hands.
When I look at those photographs, I think about the people a project can help, and what it would mean to create something in the names of the people I love.
You may have someone in mind too. Or you may simply have wanted to build something useful and never known where to begin.
I'd like you to join me
Through SDQA, you can create your own water project, masjid or home for a family in need. You can fund it yourself or bring others together. Our team helps you work through the options and costs, arranges delivery and reports back on the work.
You don't need to arrive with a complete plan. An idea, a budget or a person you'd like to honour is enough to start a conversation.
Riaz and I hope this grows into hundreds, and eventually thousands, of programmes. I'd love you to be one of the people who helps make that happen, with a project that means something to you.
Tell us about the project you'd like to create. There is no commitment in making that first enquiry.
For me, this is a way to take part in the work and honour my son and my mother. I hope it gives you a way to do something meaningful too.
May Allah accept it from us and allow its benefit to continue.
Irfan
