The research behind this project
Yumbe is in Uganda's West Nile. This is a small village masjid, sized for the people who'll pray in it, with a veranda and somewhere to wash.
Prayer spaces nearby
Uganda's Electoral Commission listed Arafa Mosque in Rogale parish, Kuru, and Barakala Mosque in Baringa parish, Romogi, among its 2016 polling venues. They show masjids already serving the district, and our team checks what's near the chosen village.
The building
A small prayer hall with a veranda and a washing area, for at least 60 people. A hand pump would be priced separately and isn't part of this project.
The site visit
Our partner confirms the community, the prayer spaces already there and the exact plot. The land agreement and who'll look after the masjid are recorded before building starts.

What is a share?
This project is split into 100 shares of £90. Each one pays for a hundredth of the build, alongside everyone else who joins. You can fund one share or as many as you like.
How will I hear about it?
We'll email you at each stage, from the first site visit to the day it opens, with photos along the way.
What if the cost changes?
We work hard to price every project accurately. The price of a share covers its part of the build, its delivery and reporting, and our own costs. If it's going to cost more, we'll tell you up front and talk it through with you. If something unplanned comes up during the build, we'll talk it through with you and agree how to handle it together.
