About This Project
In rural Uganda, water collection is still the responsibility of women and children. Hours each day carrying jerry cans from streams that are often contaminated. Waterborne illness is a leading cause of death in children under five. The journey itself costs an education.
Delivered: one bore pump drilled and handed over in Mika village, Wakiso District, in August 2026.
Before the pump, families in Mika drew their water from an open pond that spread disease, and the walk to fetch it took hours out of every day.
The pump taps clean underground water at source, so the village now draws a reliable daily supply that protects health, saves time and supports the community's stability. The completion report includes the photographs from the handover.
In August 2026 a bore pump was handed over in Mika village, Wakiso District. The families who had carried jerry cans from an open pond for years now draw clean water at the pump, a short walk from home.
The plaque at the site records the village, the district and the date. The photographs in the project report follow the well from the open pond to the day the community took charge of it.
